Movie Review:
Harsha Konuganti of Husharu stardom directs Rowdy Boys. His preferred film again belonged to the exact space but has made on a moderate ranking. Here he has big support and a much bigger canvas. Yet, that impression ends as we progress to the more routine proceedings. The entire first half can be packed into one singular plot development that leads to the gap.
There is nobody much happening except the students from two rival colleges going at each other. And when it occurs especially, we get to the interval. In between, we have the usual world-building scenes applying the hero’s family and companions. It is here that Rowdy Boys fails.
It had humor operating for it even though story-wise, it too had nobody fresh to offer. The second half takes a more affected turn with a new rise thrown between the leadership team. Exact this segment will remind many of some recent past films. It wouldn’t still have counted had there existed good writing and actors to lift specialties up. The right thing, though, has analogized to the first half the second hour looks worthy, even if it is a polish of predictable acting on offer.
